Like most independent publishers, I made a lot of mistakes my first go round. I continue to make mistakes. I did all of my most meaningful research after I published. Because I had to. Because there are no real guides out there. Because you don't know what you don't know until you screw up about a hundred times.
It's ok. That's what writing is all about, and that's what this wild world of publishing is all about.
After I kept hating my title, and hating my cover for long enough, I decided to revamp everything. Because my marketing was nil, I wouldn't disappoint any fans who weren't related to me, anyway.
So, I'm revamping my book. New Title: Bright Aster. New Cover
Ahh... so much better. By the way, I used the same cover artist for both covers. It wasn't her fault I hated my first cover. I didn't know what I wanted or how to ask for it if I did.
Thanks to Lori Follette from Wicked Book Covers for her amazing skill and incredible patience!
I am now almost ready for my revamp. I'm doing a bunch of things differently, and I'm ready for a whole new slew of mistakes. Bring it on!
